Aspenside is a local-first workspace and app ecosystem for developers, available on desktop and mobile. It serves as the local environment, project runner, and system where everything operates. Inside this workspace, you collaborate with Aspen, your companion AI coding agent that can read and write files, execute terminal commands, and perform complex development tasks directly in your local directory.

Aspenside's core app is 100% free for everyone on both Desktop and Mobile. There are no artificial limits on local projects, chats, device pairing, or peer-to-peer sync. We monetize only optional convenience, compute, cloud collaboration, and supporter perks (like custom themes, supporter badges, and early beta updates) to help fund independent, local-first development.

There is no catch. We believe everyone should have access to both local and cloud AI that is model-agnostic and keeps their data secure and local. Down the road, we plan to build advanced collaboration tools and premium features on top of this foundation to support our long-term development.

We do not save any telemetry data, and we never receive your AI requests or source code. Aspenside is entirely local-first. All your code, credentials, and conversation histories are stored securely on your own machine. When syncing across your desktop and mobile devices, everything is completely end-to-end encrypted and transmitted peer-to-peer via Aspen Sync, powered by Tailscale.

Aspen is your companion AI agent running inside the Aspenside workspace. Unlike simple chat interfaces, Aspen is a fully autonomous coding assistant. It can navigate your projects, run builds and tests, fix errors, and execute workflows in real-time while you monitor its steps, inspect diffs, and guide its progress directly from the Aspenside apps.
